Welcome to the Tumut Bull Ants Tumut Junior Rugby Union Club, the "Bull Ants", is a successful club that aims to introduce young players to the game of rugby union in a friendly and enjoyable club atmosphere. Formed in 2004 the club fields teams in the Under 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 age groups of the Southern Inland Junior Rugby (SIRU) competition. In 2006 under the old "even age groups" the U10s and U12s both won their Premierships. In 2007 the U12s took out the Premiership for a second year in a row. The SIRU Junior competition is played on Sunday over eleven rounds during the winter months. The 2010 Southern Inland Rugby Union Juniors Competition enters a new phase with the adoption of a "Home & Away" Draw replacing the fortnightly Gala Days. This will allow for increased home games and less travelling time. Club teams will play one (1) match each Sunday with the U/7s to play 3x10 minute thirds, U/9s 2x20 minute halves, U/11s 2x30 minute halves, U/13s 2x30 minute halves, and U/15s 2x35 minute halves. Home games are played at the Bull Paddock with training taking place at Jarrah Oval each Tuesday from 5-6.
For those players that are interested in taking their game further the club also provides the opportunity to be selected to play as a representative in regional level competitions. Club members have represented at SIRU, Brumbies Provincial, Brumbies, ACT Schools, McKillop and NSW PSSA level. You can find out the latest information about the club’s activities from the News Flash links on the right side of this page. Local businesses that kindly support the Bull Ants are also listed on our Sponsors link. New players are warmly welcomed to the club and can just come along on any training day during the winter season to take part in "the game they play in heaven".
